This is my Jam
One jar of jam...oh the possibilities. If you are looking for a little something over the holiday to add to a foodie gift basket or hostess gift, make sure to grab a great jar of jam. After spending over three years now researching food waste and striving towards a waste-free kitchen, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate a truly great product made in an iconic glass vessel that can be repurposed in so many ways. Not only is the jam delicious, but the jar is ADORABLE. I've come up with a clever way to reuse and repurpose these great jars that you can use as a holiday activity with your family.
At this year's #bonnemamanholiday event we celebrated everything from charcuterie boards, appetizers, cocktails, and crafts using up some sweet holiday flavors like Bonne Maman's signature fig, apricot, and cherry preserves. Empty jam jars were upcycled as Christmas tree ornaments, ramekins to hold snacks, fancy cocktail classes, and yes... snow globes.
In the spirit of the holidays I thought I would share with you what we did at this year's snow globe table in the hopes you will have a little holiday fun (and not throw out that lovely empty jar!)
DIY Snow Globes
What you need:
1 empty Bonne Maman jam jar with lid
a few cute holiday figurines
1/2 tsp glycerine
1-2 Tbsp sparkly glitter dust
To label: ribbon, string, labels or name tags, scissors (optional)
Heat up the glue gun. Once figurines are chosen, glue them to either the inside of jar lid or/ the inside of the bottom of the jam jar. Wait 3-5 minutes until figurines are completely dry.
Fill jam jar with water, and add in 1-2 Tbsp glitter dust (depending on how stormy you want it).
Stir in 1/2 tsp glycerin until glitter gets incorporated (maybe still a little clumpy).
Close lid tightly and shake.
